Predicting Every 2023 Week One Starting QB in One Sentence or Less

I'm baaaaaaaacccckkk!

It's been a hot minute since I've been active on this blog, but with several changes happening in my life, I decided to revive it for the time being. It's been a wild past couple of years for me, and I want to get back into making this blog a thing. With that said, I might do some pieces here that are things that I fancy: Disney, television, travelling, whatever the sort! Oh, and of course football! So expect some more frequent activity on TEJE (actually, that doesn't roll off the tongue as well. Let's stick with the EJ Experience).

There's two offseason NFL pieces that I like to do every year: my mock draft and the QB carousel in a sentence or less. With the conclusion of the Super Bowl on Sunday, I decided to do my Every Team's Week One QB in a Sentence or Less early this year. I received some flack for doing it too late last year, and rightfully so. As I published it, Carson Wentz was en route to Washington. Let's kick off the annual festivities with the 2023 edition of Every Team's Week One QB in a Sentence or Less.

AFC East:

Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen

Allen continues to fly in Buffalo's system, they're once again a Super Bowl favorite.

Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa

Despite the number of concussions last year, it's still Tua Time in South Beach.

New England Patriots: Mac Jones

Jones should have a better year without Matt Patricia calling his plays.

New York Jets: Derek Carr

It's the Jets who nab the new free agent as Carr looks to get back on track with a new offense.

AFC North:

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson

It's been a tumultuous few months between Baltimore and the former MVP, but I think he plays the year on a tag at the minimum and punts negotiations down the road.

Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow

It's almost hard to believe that Joe Cool is already one playoff win away from tying the franchise record.

Cleveland Browns: Deshaun Watson

The Browns have $230 million invested in Watson, I'm not sure if they even have the possibility of looking elsewhere.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Pickett

Pickett improved throughout 2022, and he should take another leap forward next season.

AFC South:

Houston Texans: Davis Mills

This is my destination for CJ Stroud, but Mills starts off the bat before the rookie takes over.

Indianapolis Colts: Bryce Young

Indy trades up with the Bears for the #1 pick, takes the former Heisman Trophy winner, and starts him right out of the gate.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence

Jacksonville is the only team in the AFC South with a stable QB situation, plus Lawrence led a great comeback against the Chargers in the playoffs.

Tennessee Titans: Ryan Tannehill

Speaking of tough contracts to move, I'm not sure how Tennessee could move on from Tannehill even if they wanted.

AFC West:

Denver Broncos: Russell Wilson

Broncos Country should get ready to ride with another year of Russ, hopefully improved with Sean Payton at the helm.

Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes

The man now has two rings, two MVPs, and is already on track for Canton.

Las Vegas Raiders: Aaron Rodgers

The Raiders reunite Rodgers and Adams in Sin City, as the Silver and Black look to rebound from last year's disappointment.

Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert

Herbert is fresh off his first playoff appearance, and he is expecting more in 2023.

NFC East:

Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott

The defending Walter Payton Man of the Year winner is still in the midst of his record-breaking extension.

New York Giants: Daniel Jones

Jones gets another year with the Giants, but whether or not it's on a long term deal remains to be seen.

Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts

Hurts will help the Eagles try to become the first repeat NFC Champions since 2014.

Washington Commanders: Taylor Heinicke

Whether they draft Anthony Richardson or not, Heinicke takes the reins for the first week at minimum.

NFC North:

Chicago Bears: Justin Fields

The Ohio State product is just starting to find his groove, the Bears would be foolish to trade him.

Detroit Lions: Jared Goff

I did not have Jared Goff having a career year and turning into a Pro Bowl quarterback on my 2022 Bingo card.

Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love

A new era will begin in Lambeau, as Love becomes just the third full time Packers QB in thirty years.

Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins

It's another year of Kirk in Minnesota, although how much longer does he have up there?

NFC South:

Atlanta Falcons: Desmond Ridder

Ridder gets a year of full-time duties in Atlanta, who may play things on a year-by-year basis for the time being.

Carolina Panthers: Sam Darnold

It's a prime destination for Will Levis, but Darnold gets the first few starts of the season.

New Orleans Saints: Baker Mayfield

New Orleans takes a flier on Mayfield, as they are left without a first round pick this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jimmy Garoppolo

This might actually be the year Jimmy G departs, and he'll finally get the opportunity to replace Tom Brady.

NFC West:

Arizona Cardinals: Jacoby Brissett

With Kyler Murray on the shelf for the first half, the Cardinals sign Brissett as a stopgap.

Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford

There were brief rumors of him retiring in the offseason, but Stafford will return to try and put the Rams back on track after a disaster in 2022.

San Francisco 49ers: Trey Lance

I'm not sure if Brock Purdy will be ready by week one or not, but regardless, San Francisco's opening starter is on their roster.

Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith

The Comeback Player of the Year has not written back, and he will be Seattle's guy on a long term contract.

The NFL season might have just concluded, but the offseason is one of the best times for all football fans, as everyone tries to chase down the Chiefs and that Lombardi Trophy.
